The Wedding Singer. Never Been Kissed. Ever After. Fever Pitch. These are all movies Drew Barrymore is known for. The 41-year-old actress has a career full of beloved films, but now she is on a different path: television. Well, Netflix to be exact. If you haven’t heard about her new show, Santa Clarita Diet, here are a few things to know:

First and foremost, this is a comedy about a marriage – it just has a little bit of a twist. Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore), the matriarch of the family, goes from being a bland real estate agent to a member of the undead with a serious craving for human flesh. With the help of her loving husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant), and their daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), Sheila is able to adjust to her new lifestyle, however bizarre it may be.

While the situation is not something that audiences can relate to, Sheila and Joel’s marriage is something that everyone can get on board with. No matter how crazy their circumstances are, they always love and support each other every step of the way – they’re basically a really twisted version of  Jack and Rebecca from This is Us.

If you’re a Drew Barrymore fan, you’ll love seeing her in this show. She is completely in her element, and clearly has the time of her life playing a character who isn’t afraid to go a little crazy. Timothy Olyphant is the perfect match for Barrymore, and plays the role of the supportive-yet-inexperienced husband of a zombie incredibly well. One thing is for sure: these two have excellent chemistry.

Warning: When you watch this show, be prepared to see a lot of things that aren’t exactly appetizing. The pilot episode alone has copious amounts of vomit, blood and intestines. However, if you’re not too squeamish, you’ll be able to look past the campy gore and find the humor in each episode.  It should be noted that this show requires a certain kind of humor. You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. You have to be willing to just go with the weirdness of it all. If you’re game, you’ll definitely find this show enjoyable. If not, you should probably just switch to The Walking Dead.

There are currently 10 episodes available on Netflix, and each show is about 30 minutes long. If you’re feeling adventurous and have some free time on your hands, give it a try. You might just find yourself falling for a comedy about a zombie mom and her family, as crazy as it sounds.
